STAY-IN-SCHOOL
All Brookings-Harbor (OR) High School students will receive a Million Dollar Bill at the beginning of school to stay-in-school through graduation. What is the purpose of the project? To keep kids in school by giving them a graphic reminder of what it will cost them if they drop out before graduation. Why is it needed? Studies show that a great many children drop out of school before graduation. Boredom, depression, getting pregnant, a drug or alcohol addition or problem, violence in the home environment, etc. What problems will it address? Encourage students who are having difficult to tough-it-out, get support from school counselors, find a way to make it through graduation. And, for many to find a way to attend college. How will you know the task was successful? By a decrease in the number of dropouts and an increase in the number of graduates starting college. Sponsor: TheCitizensWhoCare.org
