The beauty of being a misfit

What the Minions have to say about uniqueness

Be yourself. That's right. At last count there were over 6 billion unique people on earth. And, whether you like it or not, no matter how much you try to fit in, you are one of them. Similar to a snowflake in that the billions of snow flakes that fall in every storm, each one remains unique from ALL of the others. Not one single snow flake has ever been the same (baring possible genetically engineered snow flakes) as no single person has ever been the same as any other person, even identical twins.

What would you do?

As a child, he began talking later than normal. In school, he was regarded as a freak by his classmates because of his lack of interest in sports. His teachers considered him dull because he was poor at memorizing by rote. One teacher told him in exasperation that he wouldn't amount to anything, was wasting everyone's time, and should drop out of school immediately. Would you have looked down on him? Is so, you would have snubbed young Albert Einstein.

A pro surfer lost her left arm to a shark near her home on the Hawaiian island of Kauai in 2003. This didn't divert her from her passion. Not only was she able to keep surfing at an elite level, she became the focus of "Soul Surfer," a feature film showcasing her inspirational story. Would you have been turned off when seeing the stub on her left shoulder? You would have missed getting to know Bethany Hamilton.

"Be confused, it's where you begin to learn new things. Be broken, it's where you begin to heal. Be frustrated, it's where you start to make more authentic decisions. Be sad, because if we are brave enough we can hear our heart's wisdom through it. Be whatever you are right now. No more hiding. You are worthy, always." ~ S.C. Lourie
