Gordon Clay here. The majority of Curry County voters, and those in 16 of the 18 "small counties" in Oregon, have spoken - let the rich and the wealthy corporations keep it all. It doesn't matter if state provided services suffer - we already spend too much on education, public safety and health care.

Salem, hear their call. Spend the budget in counties that voted for 66 and 67. There's no reason that the citizens from counties that saw a need and a sensible way to pay for these important services, and voted for 66 and 67, should suffer because some counties didn't want to take responsibility for their own.

People know Oregon is a cheap state - it's one of only three states that don't have a sales tax, and people know that Orgies almost never vote for taxes. In other words, a state that continues to make the statement, we're happy with the education our children are getting, the safety that our police provide, the health care that's available, and are even in favor of reducing those services as inflation increases. Maybe this is the reason 44,000 people moved to Oregon last year.

The Curry County Commissioners are hard at work on plans to ask for more handouts from the Feds instead of looking for ways to build an economy not reliant on timber and handouts. Don't expect the Federal government to feel sorry for you. They've seen you with your hand out for over 30 years. During that time, you were supposed to figure out how to take care of yourself. If Curry County can't afford to run its own county, to bad. This is not the time to increase the federal debt to pay for services the majority of your citizens seemingly don't want.

Time's up. Figure it out. Deal with it. It was your call. It's time to man up
