Gordon Clay here. Tomorrow's First Friday Salon will present Peter Alsop's Opening Doors video at 6pm at the Chetco Public Library.
Dr. Alsop's concert presentation for adults focuses on flexibility and commitment to self-growth. With hilarious and heartrending songs, he teachers the difference between "static" and "dynamic" lifestyles; why we should avoid "grabbing for simple answers"; and how the "process-oriented" arts help us to relieve caregiver stress. His humor rekindles the child within, and opens doors locked by abuse, loss, anger and fear, as the audience laughs and cries and sings along.
Peter is a nationally known singer-songwriter, lecturer and humorist who is noted for the warmth and insight of his presentation. He has a Ph.D in educational psychology and his songs are used by thousands of parents, educators and human service professions to help families discuss sensitive issues. He has produced and recorded 18 albums and 7 DVDs. His children's albums have won two INDIE Awards from the National Association of Independent Record Distributors and Manufacturers, and the coveted Parents' Choice Award for his song "My Body."
The Peter Alsop's Opening Doors is presented by the First Friday Salon. The event is free and open to the public. After the film there will be an open discussion concerning the issues of self-growth presented in the film. What a great way to enter the stressful holiday season, with this lighthearted approach.
